About Our Pack |
Pack 546 was founded February 1, 1995 as a chartered unit of the Boy Scouts of America. We serve the Point Loma and Ocean Beach neighborhoods of San Diego, California, USA.
Over the years, many of our Cubs from Pack 546 have continued their Scouting experience
by advancing to Boy Scout Troops 24 and 500 of Point Loma.
Every year Pack 546 holds a "Feller's Cake Bake Auction" to raise funds for activities and
programs as well as to donate to BSA in order to assist other Packs. Cakes are baked and decorated
by the Cubs and their fathers (feller's only!) using edible ingredients (no Legos or action figures!)
and compete in a variety of categories.
The December Pack Meeting traditionally features the annual presentation of "A Transylvanian Night Before Christmas" as performed by former Cubmaster Mike Gardner, and is enjoyed by Cubs and parents alike.
Other annual events historically include the Blue & Gold Dinner, the Bike Rodeo, the
Webelos Bridge Crossing, and the San Diego - Imperial Council Scout Fair.
Over the years Pack 546 has enjoyed many unique opportunities such as as tours of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California gray whale watching excursions, and time aboard US Navy submarines at the US Navy Submarine Base, San Diego.
Pack 546 camps out each year in the Anza-Borrego Desert during the cool months of January or February. This campout features a hike through Borrego Palm Canyon, home of the only native palms of California, and an opportunity to glimpse the elusive big horn sheep native to the area.
